Wix to Next.js Migration

You have outgrown Wix. Migrate to Next.js and stop paying for limitations that a custom site eliminates entirely.

  • Lighthouse 30–55 on mobile — consistently failing CWV
  • Wix editor framework code inflates every page
  • Cannot add custom functionality beyond Wix app market
  • Monthly subscription with no ownership of the code
  • Lighthouse 95–100
  • You own the code — no platform lock-in
  • Custom functionality without limitations
  • $0–20/month hosting vs $17–159/month Wix

The Wix ceiling

Wix is an excellent tool for getting a site online quickly. It stops being excellent when you need: custom functionality that Wix apps do not cover, real Core Web Vitals performance, a site that is not on a Wix subdomain (or even on a custom domain with Wix''s code), or a frontend that a developer can maintain without touching the Wix editor.

What brings Wix users to us

Lighthouse scores in the 30-50 range on mobile. Wix''s generated HTML is bloated — it includes the Wix editor framework in the page source even for visitors. Core Web Vitals consistently fail. And the moment you need functionality that Wix''s app market does not provide, you hit a wall.

The migration

Wix does not have a public API for content export. I extract content via structured scraping (legal, used for migration purposes), export structured data, and rebuild the site in Next.js with content in Supabase or a headless CMS. All SEO metadata is preserved. All URLs are mapped with 301 redirects.

FAQ

Common questions

Why is Wix bad for SEO?

Wix has improved its SEO capabilities significantly, but its generated HTML includes Wix editor framework code that inflates page weight. Core Web Vitals scores are consistently in the failing range on mobile. For businesses that rely on organic search, this is a real competitive disadvantage.

How do you export content from Wix?

Wix does not have a public content API. I extract content via structured scraping (legal for migration purposes), manual export of structured data, and direct export of any downloadable assets. All content is preserved.

Will I lose my domain?

No. Your domain stays yours. I transfer DNS to point to the new Next.js site on Vercel. Wix''s hosting is no longer needed after migration.

Can you replicate my Wix design?

I rebuild the design as clean React components — not a pixel-perfect Wix replica, but a better, faster implementation of the same design with proper component structure. If you want a full redesign alongside the migration, I scope that separately.

What Wix apps do I lose?

Wix-specific apps (Wix Forms, Wix Blog, Wix Members) are replaced with better alternatives: Formspree for forms, Supabase for content, and standard auth for members areas. Each replacement is evaluated and specified before migration begins.
